LEEDS LIGHT NIGHT, COMMISSION ARTIST

[in]visible is a commission for Leeds Light Night 2016 that uses transparent materials to shed light upon the marvellous architectural detail of historical buildings in Leeds. [in]visible reveals all that has faded into the background of this modern metropolitan city.
In the digital age, everyone lives with their heads down and their eyes fixed on screens. People rarely pay attention their surroundings, buildings or environments anymore. Engrossed in social media, they walk past Leeds city centre. This lost connection gives life and gravity to the piece [in]visible, which now becomes a withheld moment in time, allowing people to stop and reconnect with the historical heritage buildings that became invisible to the modern world.

Northern Portrait is an exhibition event run for and by The University of Huddersfield students from a variety of creative subject courses. Students are organising the event and will be contributing a piece of their work to the exhibition which will be showing at The Artworks in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
